Modern slavery — advice for employers

If your business has a turnover of £36 million or more you must produce an annual modern slavery statement. This is a legal requirement. More information can be found on the government’s website Publishing an annual modern slavery statement

If you are an employment agency, labour provider or gangmaster who provides workers to the sectors listed below, you will need a GLAA licence:

  • Agriculture

  • Horticulture

  • Shellfish gathering

  • Any associated processing and packaging

It is a criminal offence to supply workers without a licence or use an unlicensed labour provider. The GLAA provides business with support to ensure they follow good practise.
