Financial support to access adult education

Different types of funding are available to access educational opportunities in the UK. There may be some restrictions on what funds can be used for, e.g. some funds will cover childcare costs, while others won’t. There is also different “eligibility criteria” for who can access different funds. 

Here is a list of grants and bursaries available in the UK. These grants and bursaries don’t have to be paid back. The list includes specific bursaries available within the NHS, social work and teaching.

If you’re aged 19 or over, on a further education course and facing financial hardship, you could get Learner Support to help with costs including transport and childcare.

The Advanced Learner Loan helps people aged 19 and over with the costs of accessing courses at colleges or training providers, including childcare.

Refuaid provide a list of scholarships and financial support available for refugees and asylum seekers accessing higher education. They also provide info and guidance on how to access student finance and eligibility criteria for different migrant groups.
